| The
preparation |
When
preparing a tooth for a crown I remove all old filling and decay.
Then I build a base with bonded resin and prepare the tooth for an
invisible join with the crown. |
|
Old
filling often used as base so decay may be left behind.
Tooth prepared
in a way that leads to a metal collar around the gum. |
|
| The
laboratory |
A
premium laboratory which delivers true craftmanship. Your crowns will
be made from porcelain (for maximum aesthetics) or porcelain veneered
over a nickel free alloy (where strength is vital). |
|
Mass-produced
work. Lacking detail. Low quality crowns are often made of porcelain
veneered over nickel alloy, which may cause allergies. |
|
| The
result |
State-of-the-art.
Crowns that look like real teeth (not crowns), feel great and are
built to last. |
|
Ordinary.
Crowns that look like crowns frequently with dark margins and exposed metal. They may not last well. |
|
Melbourne cosmetic dentist - Frequently asked questions |
How much does a good quality crown cost?
Our crowns cost between $1,550 and $1,750 each. This
does not include the cost of a root filling (if needed). |
|
How long does it take to make a crown?
Two visits, about two weeks apart. |
How long does a crown last?
Crowns are a very long lasting form of restoration. They should last for years and years. |
|
Why
don't Fine Dentistry crowns contain nickel?
Nickel may cause allergies. If you are unable to wear cheap jewellery it is usually due to nickel allergy. |
Why are crowns expensive?
They are a treatment which is precision made and totally personalised and require exacting laboratory work. |
|
Does it hurt?
Making a crown is a little time consuming but not
painful. We numb the tooth just like we would for a filling. |
