Orthodontics at Fine Dentistry

Appropriate orthodontic treatment always depends on the extent of the straightening required and whether the jaw positioning requires alignment.

Below are the current orthodontic treatments we offer here at Fine Dentistry and how they will benefit you. The best way to determine the treatment that suits you best is by having a detailed consultation.

The methods

Metal Braces

Metal braces have been the most traditional and cost-effective way to adjust the smile. They can be used for straightening out the teeth, as well as ensuring that the teeth are properly aligned.  Metal braces can significantly relieve pressure from the teeth and prevent the wearing down of the teeth.

Metal braces are the least discreet method of straightening smiles due to metal brackets and wires, they can be difficult to clean and there are limitations to what you can eat throughout the treatment.

Invisalign

Invisalign features a series of custom-made, virtually invisible, aligners that can be removed when you like. They work to gradually change the positioning of the teeth over time. Invisalign is effective for mild cases of protruding or crooked teeth as well as overcrowding and wide gaps.

For teeth that are misaligned or rotated, or significant bite issues, metal or incognito lingual braces tend to be a more effective option.

Because Invisalign is removable, it offers patients more freedom to eat the foods the love and also keep the usual dental hygiene without the need to use special tools to clean with.  Although you must remember to wear your Invisalign retainer and always adjust them as your dentist recommends, it is a great method.

Orthognathic Jaw Surgery

Much of our facial appearance relies on our strong jaw structure. When modern orthodontic methods are unable to assist with this, corrective jaw surgery may be a more effective procedure.  Orthognathic Jaw Surgery works to realign the jaw region helping to correct the following:

  • under bites or overbites
  • Relieve sleep apnoea
  • Improved eating experience, making chewing and biting easier.
  • Prevent teeth from wearing down
  • Restore balance to the facial features
  • Improve the smile, ensuring lips close and revealing an even smile

The best part of Orthognathic Jaw Surgery is that it can repair facial abnormalities and defects which affect both the mouth as well as facial features. Here at Fine Dentistry we thoroughly examine your teeth to find the best option for you!
